Challenge
The biggest challenge in this project was the absolute requirement that the delivery be 100% complete and on time, as is the norm in many projects: on-time-in-full (OTIF). In these types of projects with tight delivery dates, even the slightest error in the delivered materials quickly leads to major delays in the customer's installation process. Delivering exactly on the desired delivery dates requires error-free coordination to monitor the intended profit in post-award calculations.
Solution
In addition to the engineering work and custom products, the solution was to set up a robust logistics and communication plan to minimize risks. The complete project was therefore also defined in a detailed delivery schedule. Prior to final delivery, backup inventory was established, significantly reducing the risk of delays in final delivery. The entire project was characterized by a quick turnaround time, which was made possible by the very good and efficient communication between the customer and our engineering department.
The Customer
The client is a large company that focuses on total installation, including flue systems, boilers and all related installation work, ventilation and piping. Schiedel's flawless and complete delivery allowed the client to complete their installation work on schedule and without interruptions, which is crucial to an installation company's reputation.
