Challenge
Schiedel was commissioned to deliver a complex chimney and flue system serving generators that power the building's critical fire pump system.
The main challenge was the intricate nature of the ducts, which required a complex configuration. They had to be installed with long horizontal sections in an underground path that ran for several meters before the ducts emerged above ground in the green area in front of the building. This long, underground route also meant limited space for installation and maneuvering.
Solution
Schiedel supplied and installed both double-wall insulated overpressure systems (ICS 5000 and HP 5000) and the single-wall PRIMA PLUS system for the connecting sections. The utilized diameters were highly variable, featuring segments of 500, 350, 300, and 130 mm.
The required passage and crossing of the ducts at multiple critical points necessitated adequate fire compartmentalization and meticulous design protocols.
The installation was executed by one of Schiedel’s highly specialized installation teams. These teams possess extensive expertise in managing complex logistics inherent to large metropolitan construction sites, specifically tailored to the demanding reality of Milanese projects.
